New Year, New Rules

“When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

That’s a very limited life.

Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”

– Steve Jobs

It’s the season of resolutions for many of us.  A new year, a new beginning.

A chance to learn some lessons from last year and change approach this year.

A chance to finally book that exotic holiday we were promising ourselves this time last year (and the year before) but that never happened.

A chance to make amends for previous mistakes.

A chance to spend more time with family.

A chance to be a better friend.

A chance to be a better parent.

A chance to get fitter.

A chance to eat better.

A chance for a new you.

As exciting and rejuvenating as the feeling of a new start can be at the end of the year, why wait that long?

Why not treat each day as a chance to grow, a chance to experiment, a chance to push those ideas in your head from theory to practice?

Why not push the boundaries to see if you can make your actual life closer to the life of your dreams?

Why not live a life less ordinary on a daily basis?

With those thoughts and the quote above in mind, let’s toast a fruitful and frictionless new year!
