“Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom” – Lao Tzu
This should be a simple question to answer right? Surely we all know what we’re passionate about.
However, in this age of distraction many of us are so preoccupied with just trying to keep up with life that we forget to make time for getting to know ourselves. We lose sight of what makes us tick and gets us excited. We lose sight of our passion!
As children, living on passion was pretty much all we did. We knew what we liked doing and if we didn’t like doing something we let it be known. However, as adults lots of us start to repress and deemphasise the things that give us pleasure and we’re passionate about. Regular life and adult responsibilities fill our thoughts and actions instead. At the end of our responsibility filled days we’re too exhausted to follow up on a passion/hobby even if we do know what excites us. This becomes a vicious cycle that is hard to escape for many. However, it doesn’t have to be that way.
We can and should treat our hobbies and passions as something that must be prioritised and prioritised throughout our lives. We seek ways and means to make room for them to breathe, grow and enrich our lives.
This post is an extract from an upcoming project that I will be sharing details of soon. As well as looking at discovering (or rediscovering) your passion it will also look at how you can then turn passion into income. Stay tuned!!
