The Motivation Myth

We like to celebrate the success stories and be inspired by them.  We also like to pretend they have some unworldly gift for staying motivated.  Often, what separates these people from the rest is a commitment to focused action.  Simple, not easy.

These people have habits set up so they can keep their goals, the goal.

They suffer from moments of doubt, they have days (and weeks) of feeling unmotivated.  Guess what, they take action anyway.  They turn up.  They take a step forward, they do the work regardless.  We can learn from this.

If we forever wait on feelings of motivation and certainty, we will do very little.  We have to commit to action, whether we feel motivated or not.  Even the smallest of steps can lead to us getting a little further forward, or closer to complete.  Otherwise, our stories will remain untold and our songs forever left unsung.

Forget waiting on motivation as an excuse not to do.

Get to work with the best you have in you today.  Turn up tomorrow and commit to doing the same.  Add enough days together and you’ll ingrain the ability to take action, whether you feel motivated or not.
