Chapter Excerpt – Prologue & Introduction
Like ghosts in the machine.
The unsaid.
Words hang.
Restless.
Wandering.
Reverb. A response from the other side.
Poetry from the depths of the soul.
Poetry of hope, of despair and of the in between.
Poetry to jangle dulled senses.
Poetry for a new Way.
Introduction
Ahead of you is a collection of poetry written over the course of 18 months, from various corners of the planet. Much of it was originally intended for another project – ‘Echoes – Poetry for the Way’.
In the end, these words didn’t quite fit that project. But they wanted to see the light. So, to accompany, or perhaps in response to, the ‘Echoes’ project – comes ‘Reverb’.
Other than one or two exceptions that straddle both projects, what lies ahead of you has not been shared previously.
Overall, this collection has a darker, and sometimes grittier, undertone than ‘Echoes’.
There are several threads connecting this work. Those of struggle, of darkness, despair, the in between, and the search for a way through. A striving to find order amongst disorder. Signal amongst noise.
The order of the poems has been considered but not obsessed over. Some will resonate more than others. Jump in where suits you best.
I hope you enjoy these poems from the other side.
