Unplug: Disconnect to Reconnect (My Latest Book)

My latest book, Unplug: Disconnect to Reconnect is finally here.  Here’s a taster of what you can expect.

We live in a technology and information driven age.

More and more of our time is spent plugged into a virtual world.  Heads buried in smartphones.  Fighting ongoing battles with the increasing amount of inputs in our lives.

From an evolutionary perspective, we have had no time at all to really adapt our behaviour to all this technology.  We’re still finding our way with it.  Finding ways to use it effectively, so that it supports our lives in positive ways.

This transition phase that we’re in has led to many of us becoming deeply ingrained in our technology.  Often at the expense of being focused on what, and who, is around us.  We have become overly fixated on the little rectangle screens, waiting on the next incoming message or update.  Transfixed in a world of distracted.

As a direct consequence, many of us are finding it harder to concentrate deeply.  We’re losing touch with the power of focusing purely, and simply, on one thing at a time.

We fight a constant battle with distractions.  We are bombarded with messages.  Demands on our time and attention have rarely been higher.

Unplug is a book about simplifying our relationship with technology, using it intentionally and mindfully so that it adds to our lives.  So that we can leverage it in positive ways without it taking over.  Ensuring we can focus on the important things in life.  Supporting us to live our version of a life worth living.

This book has been a labour of love, that has stopped and started over the last 18 months or so, and has changed direction from my original plans for it.  I believe the message is a powerful one, that can support us all living more intentionally with the digital world and technology around us.

For the bloggers amongst you, I am open to offers to talk on podcasts and blogs about the book over the coming period.

I hope you enjoy reading.

In gratitude,

Carl
