“What you are looking for is already in you…You already are everything you are seeking.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
Too often we compare ourselves to others. Wishing we could achieve just like someone else, wishing we could have what someone else has, wishing we could be as talented as someone else, wishing we could have the body or looks of someone else.
This can lead to us feeling like we’re just never quite enough as we are. Like we’ll never be enough. It can lead us to feeling like this moment is never enough, even though this moment is all we are really guaranteed.
What if we focused instead on being the best version of us, we could be?
What if we focused on making incremental changes on a daily basis?
What if we developed tiny habits that helped us be a little better than yesterday in some small, but significant, way?
What if we strung these habits and changes together?
What if we focused on being a better parent, rather than being the ‘perfect’ parent?
What if we focused on being more connected and present for our partners and those we care about most?
What if we decided to set our own benchmarks for success?
Wouldn’t we be happier, healthier and better-balanced versions of ourselves? Wouldn’t the comparisons matter less?
Identify the best of you. Celebrate the best of you. Work on being the best you.
