“Be sure that what you want is right for you to have”
– Buddhist Proverb
Chasing goals that are not really ours is a challenge many of us face.
We get swept along in someone else’s vision, without identifying our own. Following a handed down version of ‘success’ is not always going to lead to us feeling successful, even if we hit benchmarks we strive hard for.
We can also chase goals that we believe will be right for us that end up not being a fit. A square peg in a round hole.
How do we avoid this?
We need to be selective with what we apply ourselves to. Where we focus our attention and energy.
We need to think hard about what lights us up. Taking the time to uncover what truly motivates us and gets us excited.
We need to let go of comparisons.
The answers we seek, the clues we are searching for, are likely to come from looking within, not always casting our eyes outward.
Chase your goals, but ensure they are your goals. Reconnect with your own inner compass.
