“Culture is not a shared set of beliefs, it’s a shared set of actions and behaviour” – from Bushido
Culture, an often used word. It’s also one that is mostly misunderstood.
To be clear, culture is not what we say we are going to do. Culture is what we do repeatedly.
We don’t set our culture once and let it run like clockwork. It’s organic, living and breathing, not static. It’s developing, growing or eroding, all the time. It needs constant attention.
Culture is not passive, it’s active. We all have a part to play.
If this is all so, the question is how do we intereact with culture as individuals?
What culture do we want to be a part of?
What culture do we want to model?
What steps will we take to influence the culture around us?
How can we play our part to make the culture a positive one?
We all have a part to play in what our culture is or isn’t. We can all influence the culture for the better,
in our own unique way.
