You can use AI to make your art, to write your posts, essays and even books.
You can copy and paste and pass off as ‘your own’.
You can try to sound smarter than you are, you can lift the words and craft of others, should you choose to.
You can choose not to credit the source.
You can chase the elusive algorithm.
You can chase the mass audience and attention(at any cost).
But, you are missing the point.
You are so wide of the mark.
You are missing:
- The joy of creating something from nothing
- The challenge of facing down the white of the page
- The intellectual puzzle of finding the right words in the right order (for the right project)
- The wonder in following your intuition and creating what calls from inside — of following the direction of the heart
- The excitement of feeling the brush flow across the canvas (when the muse strikes)
- The rush of a first time sale (from art you made)
- The struggle and challenge of finding any words or notes at all on some days
- The discipline ingrained by showing up, to give what you have today, doing the same tomorrow and the day after and on
- The rush of gratitude felt when someone reaches out to say they got something positive from something you created
- The excitement and trepidation of releasing your art out into the world
Me, I know where I’ll be. Writing. Because, writers write. It’s that simple.
You might paint, or draw, or dance, or make music but we are the same. We choose the path of creativity.
There is beauty, craft and joy to be found here.
