Finding the Edge

At the edge of complicated lies simplicity.

At the edge of hard comes easier.

At the edge of pushing comes the pull.

A yin to yang existence.

The edges are often where we can find our biggest breakthroughs and successes. But aiming for edges is hard.

It’s where the biggest challenges, and plateaus, will be. Hurdles that we may, or may not, overcome. No gaurantee of victory or our hands being raised.

The Middle
An easier option is to stay in the middle. Not ideal, no glory is likely to be found here. We’ll never know what it is like to truly push ourselves.  Seeing what we could be capable of.

On the plus side, we don’t have to expose ourselves, or our ideas, to the harsh light of day in the middle. No need to stand up and be counted here, we can just be lost in the crowd.

If that’s the life you want, the middle is fine.  But most of us don’t want that life.  Not if we’re honest with ourselves.

We seek something bigger. Something more meaningful.

We instead want to taste, touch and feel what it means to live this life in full technicolour.

We want to offer the best of ourselves.

We want to test ourselves, and our ideas. We want to grow, we want to develop, we want to learn.  We want to be better, to do better.

To live this kind of life, we have to move closer to the edges.  Push harder.  Pursue our best selves.

This is not about reckless abandon, this is about moving our comfort zones. And we all have comfort zones.

Adapting, challenging and throwing out old habits. Exploring new territory.

Seek out the edges, then commit to moving beyond them.
