While these can all be of tremendous value to us, they sometimes lead to us over-planning life. With military precision we try to account for every hour in every day. We strive to maximise our time. We lose touch with the beauty of occasionally just letting our days unfold.
Days that unfold are less about squeezing stuff in and more about making the time to look around. Taking in the present moment. Enjoying our surroundings. Breathing in the air. Slowing down.
These are days for recharging and refreshing. Days to cherish. Times to trip up something new and unexpected.
They can be days for long, rambling walks broken up with occasional stops for coffee and conversation. Or they can be days we decide to curl up on the sofa and catch up on that boxset we’ve been meaning to. Or read the book that we’ve had for some time but are yet to start.
We can fall into a last minute invitation from a friend to catch up.
We can book a train ticket for the day to explore somewhere we’ve never been, or take a walk along the coast.
These can be days to see friends or days for solitude. Days for listening to, and indulging, our inner needs a little.
There are no rules. In fact, that’s kind of the point.
Planning and being organised definitely has its place, but so does the odd day unplanned. Don’t be afraid to let some of your days just unfold. These days have a magic all of their own.
