Compassionate Acts

“You should respect each other and refrain from disputes; you should not, like water and oil, repel each other, but should, like milk and water, mingle together.” – Buddha

To live with compassion is a path full of challenge.

It’s easier to judge, easier to think we know better.  There is comfort in leaning into what we already know.  Comfort in repeating habitual patterns.  Comfort in convincing ourselves we have things all figured.

But, this path of least resistance is filled with assumptions.

To view the world through the eyes of compassion, to treat others with compassion, takes a certain kind of strength and inner resolve.

This is rarer air.

If we want to live in a world where compassion is commonplace, we must be willing to lead by our own example.  Willing to develop compassionate ways.  Focused on compassionate acts.

We must be willing to influence quietly but calmly, in the hope and belief of a better way. Willing to see past our own prejudices and assumptions of what is.  Willing to be and do better.
