Words Matter

“Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.”

– Rumi

I’m a writer so, unsurprisingly, I believe there is power in words.

What we say, and how we say it, carries weight.

Our words can lift others up, or cut them down.

Our words can reach many.

Our words can inspire others into action.

Our words can make others laugh out loud.

Our words can make someone feel a glow, deep inside.

Our words can also inflict spite and hurt.

Our words can share our frustration, or better share a solution.

Our words can change minds.

Our words can bring others together, or divide them.

Our words have energy.  More than that, they can energise and engage others.

Our words can punch beyond their weight.

Actions so often count for more.  We need to follow through on our words after all.

But still, words matter.
